Information re: Child Find Screenings in the School District of Rhinelander. Screenings are for children ages 3 and older who are not enrolled in school.
The third Tuesday of the month during the school year we conduct screenings in the Early Childhood classroom located at Central Elementary School (418 North Pelham Street, Rhinelander). Please come to Door #8. We have time slots available at 3:15 PM, 4:00 PM and 4:45. Each screening takes approximately 45 minutes, which includes time to review results and recommendations with parents and/or guardians.
There is no consent form that needs to be signed. This is a screening, NOT an evaluation for Special Education.
We do NOT screen for isolated skill areas (for example, we do not conduct a screening for articulation only). Child Find Screenings are comprehensive in nature and address:
- Health and Physical Development (sleep habits, dressing, toileting, eating, writing, climbing, walking, running)
- Social and Emotional Development (expressing feelings, forming friendships, resolving conflicts) ● Language and Communication (listening and understanding)
- Approaches to Learning (curiosity and excitement about learning, persistence, approaches taken to learn new information)
- Cognition and General Knowledge (hypothesizes and making predictions, forms explanations based on trial-and-error/observations/explorations, understands color and number patterns)
If you have concerns in any of the areas noted above, please contact Steph Pittman, School Psychologist, via email or phone at the address below to schedule an appointment.
We look forward to working with you and your child!
