What is Community Education?

Our Community Education Program offers many evening and weekend classes.  The focus is on Lifelong Learning for all ages!  We keep the lights on so that all in the community can enjoy the school facilities!

Current Class Offerings

The Community Education Program offers classes in topics such as fitness and sports, cooking, art, photography, outdoor recreation, dog obedience, and much more!

To enroll in Community Education classes, visit the MindBody Online Store and Scheduler by clicking on the 'Online Class Registration' link on the right side of this page, or on the link registration link in the section below.

NOTE: Registration for some classes, such as DNR Certified Safety Courses, are NOT available in the MindBody Store. To register for those classes, please scroll down on this page to the appropriate section and a link is provided for you there. Thank you.

Registration

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL CLASSES. 

Registration for Community Education classes, with the exception of Outdoor Safety and few others, is available on the School District's MindBody Online Store and Scheduler. A list of current offerings can be found in MindBody. Visit the page, create an account, and locate the classes you would like to register for by clicking on the link located in the Registration Links below. Please note: Using the MindBody mobile app to register for classes is not recommended. Please access MindBody from a desktop or laptop computer. 

If the software indicates that a class is full, please call 715-365-9745 to inquire about waiting lists. 

If you prefer to register by mail or drop off, please print the paper form listed below named 'PDF Class Registration Form'. Complete the form and send it with payment to the address listed on the form. Keep in mind that paper registration is slow, and is not the preferred method of registration.

Hunter Safety Course

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and the School District of Rhinelander Community Education Program are co-sponsoring a Wisconsin DNR certified Hunter Safety Course. 

Dates and Times: 4:00 - 7:00 pm on March 3, 4, 6, 10, 11, and 13 (participant is expected to attend all dates).  

ALL CLASSES ARE AT THE ONEIDA COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT CENTER at 2000 E. Winnebago St. in Rhinelander. 

Course objectives include: reduce the potential for accidents, injuries, and fatalities; reduce the potential for conflict between participants, landowners, and other resource users; promote safe, responsible and ethical use of the environment and our resources. 

Ages 12 and older is the target age, but all ages are welcome. The instructor will be Michael Baran from the Oneida County Sheriff's Office. The fee for the class is $10/person and should be paid with cash or check at the first class. 

Students are required to obtain a DNR customer ID number for this class. If the student does not already have one, please contact the DNR at 1-888-936-7463 to obtain this number prior to registering.

100 Mile Walking Challenge

Welcome to the Spring 2025 Rhinelander Hodag "Get Out and Walk" Challenge, brought to you by the School District of Rhinelander Community Education Program. Walk 100 miles in seven weeks! Keep track of your miles on a log sheet. After the seven weeks is up, email your completed log sheet to Mike Cheslock. At the end we will have a random drawing for Chamber Bucks for those who complete the challenge. Have fun and enjoy the fresh outside air! Or, purchase a Hodag Dome pass and walk indoors during designated community hours. Your walking routes are your choice. Keep track of your distance using a device, app, or map. Everything is on the honor system. Everyone who participates in the Walking Challenge will receive a special gift!

Policies

Inclement Weather

Classes may be canceled due to inclement weather. To view cancellations, please visit the School District of Rhinelander website homepage or check local media postings. We will also send a direct email to participants (but only if you've provided us with your email address during registration). If a class is canceled due to weather, we will try to make up the time by rescheduling it for a different day, or the instructor may teach for a longer period of time for the remaining class meetings. 

Other Cancellations

A class might be canceled due to an unforeseen circumstance, such as an instructor being ill. In this case, we will attempt to find a replacement instructor. If we are unable to find a replacement instructor, we will try to reschedule the class for a different day or time. If we are unable to reschedule the class, credits or refunds will be issued.

General Refund Policy

The decision to run or cancel a class is often based on the number of registrations/payments. Therefore, refunds are generally not issued to those who drop from a class after the registration deadline.  If a class is canceled due to low enrollment, refunds will be issued to those who have registered.
