All humans are hardwired to connect. Just as we need food, shelter, clothing, human beings also need strong and meaningful relationships to thrive. Restorative Practices (RP) is an emerging social science that studies how to strength relationships between individuals as well as social connections within communities. Though new to the social sciences, RP has deep roots within indigenous communities throughout the world. (International Institute for Restorative Practices, IIRP.edu)
At JWMS, we've implemented RP because we believe that decisions are best made and conflicts resolved by those most directly involved in them. We strive to develop good relationships and restore a sense of community in an increasingly disconnected world. All staff have been trained by the IIRP to utilize a variety of formal and informal processes.
