Welcome to JWMS

Hello James Williams Middle School Families,

On behalf of your James Williams Middle School Education Family, I would like to welcome all of you to the 2023-24 school year. A special welcome to all of our new families joining us for your first school year here at JWMS.  It is very important to pay special attention to important dates and deadlines. In specific, all required back to school paperwork is electronic and through Infinite Campus and must be completed by Tuesday, August 30th. Again, we are pleased to announce that only our new incoming 6th graders will be attending school on Friday, September 1st. These sixth grade students will be involved in an all day orientation provided by our amazing 8th grade Where Everyone Belongs (WEB) leaders. We have found great success in reserving this day for 6th graders and have made their transition smooth and much more comforting. We welcome all of our 7th and 8th grade students to join our 6th graders for their first day on Monday, September 5th. Please be sure to note that our doors open for student drop off at 7:35am and students will then have an option of picking up a bagged breakfast and proceeding directly to their homerooms. All families will have access to their child’s daily class schedules beginning Monday, August 29th. You can pick up schedules at our Welcome Back Night or access it via your child's  infinite campus student or parent portals. Students who do not receive their schedules during this time will be given a schedule on the first day of school.

Cell Phones: James Williams Middle School is making an adjustment to our current cell phone policy. Students will be able to have cell phones at school, but they must remain in their lockers for the duration of the day, including lunch and recess. If a message needs to be delivered to your child, please contact the main office at 715-365-9220.

Lunch: I am excited to announce that middle school students will have the option to eat school breakfast and lunch at no cost. TAHER food service will have samples of their food choices at our Welcome Back Night on August 30th, giving everyone the opportunity to see how great our school lunches are.

Recess:  Throughout the entire school year, we will be using our outside recess area, unless it is too cold or raining. We will have times that we utilize the Hodag Dome, and auditorium but will not be using them regularly like we have in previous years.
