The Challenge ROPES Course is located at the Cedric A. Vig Outdoor Classroom, owned by the School District of Rhinelander, in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. The Challenge ROPES Course is a tool for personal and educational growth. It is located in a unique forest setting consisting of oak, maple, and birch trees. The course is a blend of on and above ground activities presented in a prescribed sequence (starting with team-building activities, then low ropes, and on to high ropes elements) that takes individuals and groups beyond their own expectations. The course includes high and low elements that are constructed of ropes, beams, and cables within the forest.
Facilitators tailor the activities to meet the goals and objectives of the group. They must complete a rigid training program on the course by ABEE, Inc. instructors and an internship with lead facilitators before receiving certification. They also attend annual refresher training.
A handicapped-accessible challenge course has been added to the facility. This Challenge Ropes Course provides the entire Northwoods, well beyond Rhinelander, an opportunity to combine adventure and enjoyment in a natural setting.
