Pupil Nondiscrimination

The School District of Rhinelander is committed to equal educational opportunity for all students in the district. It is the policy of the School District of Rhinelander, pursuant to s. 118.13, Wis. Stats., and PI9, that no person, on the basis of sex, race, national origin, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, or physical, mental, emotional, or learning disability, may be denied admission to any school in the district or be denied
participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be discriminated against in any curricular, extracurricular, pupil services, recreational, or other program.

The School District of Rhinelander evaluates the status of nondiscrimination and equality of educational opportunity in the school district at least once every five years. The evaluation includes the following:
           a. School board policies and administrative procedures,
           b. Enrollment trends in classes and programs,
           c. Methods, practices, curriculum and materials used in instruction, counseling and pupil assessment and testing,
           d. Trends / patterns of disciplinary action, including suspension, expulsions, and handling of pupil harassment,
           e. Participation trends / patterns and  district support of athletic, extracurricular and recreational activities,
           f. Patterns in awarding scholarships and other forms of recognition provided or administered by the district, and
           g. School district efforts to achieve equality of educational opportunity and nondiscrimination.

The most recent evaluation can be reviewed at the pupil services office.

The district encourages informal resolution of complaints under its pupil nondiscrimination policy. If any person believes that the School District of Rhinelander or any part of the school organization has failed to follow the law and rules of s.118.13, Wis. Stats., or in some way discriminates against pupils on the basis listed above, he/she should submit a complaint to the administration office at the following address:
