Have you heard the exciting news? Coding is fun, builds determination, and it's accessible to our primary students! Coding can be practiced on most mobile devices, but many of the early skills can also be examined offline; using mazes, programmable robots, or even simple graph paper.

Millions of job openings in the near future will be in occupations that require coding skills. We have the unique opportunity to introduce our students to the joys and challenges of coding; early enough to make it their comfortable second "language" and give our students their pick of fulfilling, high-paying jobs in their future!

In our students’ near future, the abilities to think, imagine, create, reason, invent, and problem solve will be the most valuable commodities a job hunter can possess! In a STEM/STEAM period or a Genius hour; Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math are combined to create a high-energy, engaging springboard for our students to leap into new concepts. Students involved in STEAM events (whether multiple times a week or less) often display the ability to take risks, use imaginative thinking, and persevere through setbacks with more regularity than those who do not. This session will highlight several fantastic STEAM sessions we have conducted with our students, as well as introduce you to many sites you can visit (and bookmark) to explore STEAM/STEM/Genius sessions with your students.
