The Information and Technology Literacy (ITL) Benchmarks for Kindergarten through Grade 8 were developed in 2007 and were based on the Wisconsin ITL Standards.   Committees of library media specialists, principals, teachers and the technology specialist worked together to create grade specific benchmarks and suggested activities that teachers can use to help integrate these literacy skills into their content area.

In 2009 all grade levels met to update the Information and Technology Benchmarks.  In addition the National Educational Technology Standards for Students were added the the benchmarks.
