NonViolent Crisis Intervention
This is a training offered to district staff to ensure the "care, welfare, safety, and security" for all district students and staff. This model is based on the principles of de-escalating verbal and physical behaviors that can occur in the school setting.
If you are interested in attending a training, you may contact Gail Bowman in the Pupil Services office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Types of Trainings Offered at SDR:
1) Initial Full Course:
This is the initial training for anyone who has not been trained before or has not kept up their certification. This course meets four times for three hours each session. 100% attendance is required to meet certification. Physical interventions will be assessed during classes. In addition, there is a written exam on the last day. Meeting these requirements, you will be certified in verbal and physical interventions and your certification will be valid for 12 months.
2) Refresher Full Course:
Once you have completed the intial full course training, each year you will need to attend a refresher course. Again, 100% attendance is required, physical interventions will be assessed, and there will be a written exam on the last day of class. This course meets two times, three hours each meeting.
