Student Expectations
Hands holding globe

Attendance:

All students are required to follow the school board policies for attendance and truancy.

Virtual students or their parents are required to contact their designated School District of Rhinelander teacher on a regular basis or will be marked absent. Students that are scheduled to be physically at school and do not attend will be marked absent for all or part of that day.

Monitoring Progress:

Teachers will use a variety of ways to track curricular progress including but not limited to:

  • Tests and other assessments
  • Online course progress reports
  • Email
  • Face to face meetings
  • Phone calls
  • Project defenses
  • Curricular pace charts
  • Amount of time spent on curriculum
  • Other strategies as defined in the SST

All students are required to take the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exam (WKCE).

Virtual students will receive progress reports at the same frequency as the traditional students. However, these reports may be modified from the traditional reports to reflect the SST.

The virtual environment is not suitable for all students. The following process will be followed to insure that students are in their best learning environment.

If significant issues arise such as:

  • Truancy as defined by the school board policies
  • A week behind on course pace chart
  • Consistent low scores
  • Failure to respond to email, phone calls, or other correspondence
  • Other

Phase 1: Student, parent, and district coordinator meeting to address concerns and set goals to get back on track.

Phase 2: Additional structure added to student schedule to include more time at school.

Phase 3: Student, parent, district coordinator, and administrator meeting to address the issue and discuss possible removal from the virtual program.
