For several years the School District of Rhinelander has had Information and Technology Literacy Benchmarks that mapped the former Wisconsin Information and Technology Literacy (ITL) standards, as well as the National Education Technology Standards (NETS) for students to the content standards. The benchmark documents also included resources and lesson ideas that were written by teachers.
Recently we created documents that included the ELA Common Core standards and aligned the ISTE (NETS) student standards to the Common Core standards. In addition, we included the Overarching Enduring Understandings (OEUs) to this document to show where the standards are covered in the different OEUs and Modules within Curriculum Companion.
The district has implemented the ISTE (NETS) Standards and the teachers are focusing on the Student Profiles to help them identify activities and performance tasks that can be used to address these standards. We have broken these profiles down by grade levels and identified content standards that align with the learning activities.
The Information and Technology Literacy Binders are available online. These binders include a variety of resources that our teachers can use to help them implement the ISTE standards. Please contact Heidi Catlin for the access key to view the online binders.
