Why Choose the School District of Rhinelander?
We have excellent faculty and specialized support staff, updated buildings ready for the 21st Century, and we are focused on the intellectual as well as the social and emotional growth of every student.
We offer 4K programming at Crescent and Pelican Elementary schools. Click here for registration information.
Our elementary schools, Crescent, Northwoods Community Elementary (charter) School and Pelican, offer small class sizes. We guarantee a maximum of 18 students in grades K through 3.
The Northwoods Community Elementary School (NCES) will provide a high performance, project-based, technology-enriched environment for all students. NCES offers student-focused Individual Learning Plans (ILP’s), high expectations, clear accountability, a sense of ownership and belonging, and a safe and nurturing environment.
Central School (grades 4 and 5), James Williams Middle School (grades 6 through 8) and Northwoods Community Secondary (charter) School (grades 6 through 12) have implemented the Caring School Community, where we are HelpingOthers Develop Assets to Grow and Succeed (HODAGS). The Caring School Community principles include respectful, supportive relationships among students, teachers and families, and frequent opportunities to help and collaborate with others.
The Northwoods Community Secondary School (NCSS) engages students, primarily through project-based learning, to contribute to and learn from the many rich natural and human resources of the greater Rhinelander area. Hallmarks of this learning community are leadership, civic engagement, original research, responsible collaboration, and nurturing self-motivated learners.
Rhinelander High School offers college readiness programs, advanced placement classes and strong connections with Nicolet College, providing a seamless transition from high school to a post secondary education. Click here to view RHS's orientation video.
Our partnerships with local businesses and manufacturers provide abundant learning experiences and career opportunities for all District students. We work closely with Rhinelander Partners In Education.
CAVOC (Cedric A. Vig Outdoor Classroom) provides hands-on, outdoor learning experiences that help students acquire the awareness, knowledge, skills and commitment to become responsible stewards of their natural environment.
