Summer School

Elementary Summer School

Elementary Summer School Registration begins February 23, 2012. Registration will be held at Pelican School for students entering grades 3-5 and at Crescent School for students 3 years old to entering grade 2 where you can mail or stop in to pay your fees and register your child. Registration forms will be sent home with your students and will be available at Pelican and Crescent School beginning February 23, 2012. Early registration and the fee of $10.00 per student will be accepted until March 15th. The fee will increase to $15.00 on March 15th and must accompany your registration. The registration deadline is March 30th. Please make checks payable to The School District of Rhinelander.

Summer school will be held in 2 sessions June 18th-29th and July 30th-August 10th. Students are strongly encouraged to attend both sessions. Children aged 3 and 4 years old and those entering Kindergarten in the fall are eligible to participate in our Summer School program that takes place at Crescent Elementary School. This is a learning experience based on social skills and beginning self-help skills. Summer School for students entering grades 1 and 2 will also be held at Crescent Elementary School. The focus for learning will be reading and math. Summer School for students entering grades 3-5 will be held at Pelican Elementary School. The course offerings provide enrichment and remediation. A variety of classes will be offered.
Bus transportation is available to and from Crescent and Pelican School. Due to the current car seat law, 3 year old children will not receive bus transportation.

Ages 3 and 4 thru entering 2nd
Start 8:00-12:00
Breakfast 7:30-8:00 a.m.
Lunch 12:00-12:30 p.m.


Pelican School
Grades Entering 3rd - 5th
Start 8:15-12:15
Breakfast 8:00-8:15 a.m.
Lunch 12:15-12:45 p.m.

JWMS Summer School

The middle school summer school will meet five (5) days each week, Monday through Friday for four (4) weeks, June 18-June 29, 2012 and July 30-August 10, 2012. Classes will meet between 8:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Teachers will be scheduled from 7:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. TRANSPORTATION FOR SUMMER SCHOOL WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE DISTRICT. Lunch is free and available to all students. Registration forms must be turned in to the middle school office by Friday, May 18, 2012.

Program Objectives
 
A. To build skills in reading, language arts, math, science and social studies for all students.
B. To provide reading interventions to move all participants towards reading at or above their grade level.
C. To allow students who failed during the academic year to make up course requirements, thereby allowing them to advance to the next grade level in the fall of 2012 and/or not have to repeat same content area during the 2012-13 academic year.
D. To provide enrichment opportunities for all students to develop their skills and talents.
